Itinerary
Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Meet your guide and porters at your hotel and transfer to Marangu Gate for registration.
Begin your trek through lush rainforest, with opportunities to spot various flora and fauna.
Arrive at Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop, and settle in for the night.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Continue your ascent through the rainforest, with the vegetation gradually thinning out as you gain altitude.
Enter the heath and moorland zone, where you'll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Reach Horombo Hut, where you'll spend the night and acclimatize to the increasing altitude.
Day 3: Horombo Hut to Mawenzi Ridge and back to Horombo Hut
This day is reserved for acclimatization to help your body adjust to the altitude.
Take a hike to Mawenzi Ridge, where you'll enjoy breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding area.
Return to Horombo Hut for another night of rest and acclimatization.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Resume your trek, leaving the moorland behind and entering the alpine desert zone.
Pass by the last water point at the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
Arrive at Kibo Hut, your basecamp for the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the challenging ascent ahead.
Day 5: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Hut
Begin the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning, usually around midnight.
Ascend steeply up the scree slopes to Gilman's Point (5,681m/18,638ft), on the crater rim.
Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for the night.
Day 5: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Hut .
Begin the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning, usually around midnight.
Ascend steeply up the scree slopes to Gilman's Point (5,681m/18,638ft), on the crater rim.
Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for the night.
Day 6: Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,205ft) to Marangu Gate (1,860m/6,102ft)
Descend through the heath and moorland zones, enjoying the views of Kilimanjaro's slopes.
Reach Marangu Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to Kilimanjaro.
Transfer back to your hotel for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
