Itinerary

Day 1: Machame Gate (1,490m/4,890ft) to Machame Camp (2,850m/9,350ft)
Begin your trek at Machame Gate after registration, where you'll meet your guides and porters. Hike through lush rainforest, enjoying the sights and sounds of the diverse flora and fauna. Arrive at Machame Camp, your first overnight stop, and settle in for the night.
Day 2: Machame Camp (2,850m/9,350ft) to Shira Camp (3,750m/12,300ft)
Continue your ascent through the rainforest, with the vegetation gradually thinning out as you gain altitude. Enter the heath and moorland zone, where you'll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Reach Shira Camp, situated on a plateau beneath the towering peaks of Kilimanjaro, for overnight stay.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower and descent to Barranco Camp
Shira Camp (3,750m/12,300ft) to Lava Tower (4,630m/15,190ft) and descent to Barranco Camp (3,950m/12,960ft) Ascend to Lava Tower for acclimatization, where you'll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding glaciers. Descend to Barranco Camp via the scenic Barranco Wall, a challenging yet exhilarating climb. Spend the night at Barranco Camp, nestled in a valley beneath the towering cliffs.
Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,950m/12,960ft) to Karanga Camp (3,995m/13,106ft)
Traverse the Barranco Valley, known for its unique flora and geological features. Ascend the Karanga Valley, with stunning views of the southern glaciers of Kilimanjaro. Reach Karanga Camp, situated on a rocky ridge, for overnight stay.
Day 5: Karanga Camp (3,995m/13,106ft) to Barafu Camp (4,673m/15,331ft)
Ascend to Barafu Camp, the high camp for the summit attempt. The terrain becomes increasingly barren as you climb higher, with loose scree slopes. Rest and prepare for the summit push ahead.
Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and descent to Mweka Camp
Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp (4,673m/15,331ft) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,341ft) and descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m/10,170ft) Begin the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning, usually around midnight. Ascend steeply up the scree slopes to Stella Point (5,739m/18,831ft), on the crater rim. Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp for the night.
