Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania.
- Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport
- Transfer to your accommodation for rest and briefing
Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp.
- Trek through lush rainforests
- Camp at the Machame Camp
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp.
- Ascend through the heath zone
- Reach the Shira Camp for a well-deserved rest
Day 4: Shira Camp - Lave Tower to Barranco Camp.
- At Lava Tower, the highest point of the day, take part in an important acclimatization phase. After lunch, descend to Barranco Camp.
- Camp at the Barranco Camp, where you'll be enchanted by the beauty of the surroundings as you prepare for the next leg of your adventure.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp.
- Conquer the iconic Barranco Wall
- Hike through alpine deserts
- Reach the Karanga Camp for a spectacular view
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak.
Summit day has arrived! We begin with a very early start for our final push, passing the Rebmann Glacier, then on to Stella Point as the sun rises over this dramatic landscape. A short while after this, we reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro and of the African continent.
- Trekking time: 10–11 hours; Distance: 19km; Ascent: 993m; Descent: 2058m
7. Retrace your steps from Uhuru Peak to Barafu Camp and spend the night in Millennium Camp.
- What an achievement! You've made it to the summit! Providing it is clear, the summit offers magnificent views of the sun rising over the secondary cone of Mawenzi (5149m) and west over the vast plains to Mount Meru (4566m). After a brief photo stop and a rest, we begin a descent back down the way we came up to Barafu Campsite for lunch, then onto Millennium Camp, where we camp for the final time.
Day 8: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate.
- Final descent through the rainforest
- Transfer to Moshi for celebration and rest
