The Lobuche East Peak Climbing – 16 Days expedition is a renowned climbing destination located in the Khumbu Region of Nepal. A challenging yet rewarding experience in the heart of the iconic Everest region of Nepal. Nestled within the greater Himalayan range and part of the Mahalangur range. The region is protected by the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sagarmatha National Park. Home to a rich biodiversity and ancient cultural heritage. The Lobuche Peak is comprised of two peaks. The Lobuche East and Lobuche West, with the latter being the more technical and difficult to climb. In short: Lobuche East Peak Climbing is a popular climbing destination in the Khumbu Region of Nepal. The peak is part of the Mahalangur range and protected by the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lobuche Peak consists of two peaks, with Lobuche East being the easier of the two to climb. Climbing Lobuche East requires a high level of physical and mental fitness, as well as the use of fixed ropes, ladders, and crampons. The journey begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and passes through various settlements, monasteries, and the economic hub of Namche Bazaar. The trail offers stunning views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, Khumbila, Konde Ri, Tawache, and more. The climb culminates with panoramic views of surrounding peaks, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Ama Dablam. The descent takes trekkers back through Pheriche, Namche Bazaar, and Lukla before returning to Kathmandu. Proper planning, preparation, and guidance are essential for a successful and safe climb. The Alpine Club of Himalaya offers guided expeditions for mountaineers and trekkers to explore the beauty and cultural richness of the Everest region.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu ( 1400 Meters/ 4,593 Feet)
The flight to Nepal is mesmerizing with grand views of endless snowcapped peaks, lush green hills, and scattered settlements. Upon arriving at Tribhuvan international airport, a representative of ours will assist you with your accommodation. Upon reaching your accommodation rest for a while. Later head out on a stroll around Kathmandu, the valley has a collection of various natural and cultural landmarks. Head towards various ancient temples and Stupas of the region and get insights into the life of the people. Later in the afternoon join in for a briefing about the trek. Your team leader and guide will provide you with vital information regarding the trek. After the briefing join in for a welcome dinner program with your team and guide.
Day 2: Fly to Lukla trek to Phakding (2,610 Meters/ 8,562 Feet):Flight Time: 40 Minutes.
Head towards the domestic airport early in the morning and board a flight towards Lukla. The flight takes you over scattered settlements and lush deep rolling hills with views of snowcapped Himalayas. After a 45 minutes flight, you will reach the small settlement of Lukla perched on a hilltop. The airstrip was established by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s. Upon landing at Lukla and after a brief rest head towards the village of Phakding. Following the trial, you will first reach Chauri Kharka a beautiful settlement, from here traversing along the banks of Dudh Koshi River will lead you to the settlement of Ghat at an elevation of 2550 meters. Along the way witness the sacred peak of Khumbila, one of the few unclimbed peaks of the Khumbu region. After a brief walk, you will reach Phakding nestled at 2,610 meters, a tiny Sherpa town hidden in the verdant Dudh Koshi Valley.
Day 3: Phakding (2,610 Meters/ 8,562 Feet) to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast, start your trek by walking through a beautiful section of Rhododendron and Pine forests. As you head out of the canopy you will be traversing alongside the Dudh Koshi River. After walking for an hour or so you will come across the glistening Mt. Thamserku (6,608m) on the right and woodlands of pine, fir, and juniper forests throughout our journey. Also, catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. Progressing on the trail you will reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. After your permits are checked head on an uphill climb towards Namche Bazaar. Along with this section witness grand views of the landscapes and the mountains. Upon reaching Namche head toward your tea house, and later head to explore the region.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3,440 Meters/ 11,286 Feet).
Today is your day for acclimatization, as you ascend higher, your body must acclimate to the thinner air at greater elevations. The village has various vantage points perfect for an acclimatization hike. Head towards any vantage point before dawn and witness mesmerizing views of the sunrise over the Himalayas. The rays of the sun change the snowy white peak into various colors. Bask in the views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, Lhotse, and other mountain peaks. After lunch head towards Thami a village located above the Bhote Khola River Valley. Traversing through the lush woodlands of the Sagarmatha National Park you will reach the national park headquarters above the village. From here witness panoramic views of the Mahalangur range and the mighty Everest. Explore the national park headquarters and learn about the Sherpa lifestyle, culture, and biodiversity of the region. After exploring the region head back towards Namche.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar (3,440 Meters/ 11,286 Feet) to Tengboche (3,860 Meters/ 12,664 Feet)
From Namche, follow the easy trail around the ridge from Chhorkung to a viewpoint offering sweeping views of Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest. Continue to Kyangjuma at 3,550 meters, then take the short walk to Sanasa at 3,600 meters. From there, follow the trail toward Tengboche, gently descending to Lawichasa with Mt. Ama Dablam as a backdrop. From Lawichasa, a narrow trail leads north to Tashinga, then steeply down to Phunki Thenga (3,250 meters) and a suspension bridge. Cross the bridge, pass water-powered prayer wheels, and climb through rhododendron forest to reach Tengboche and its famous monastery.
Day 6: Tengboche (3,860 Meters/ 12,664 Feet) to Pheriche (4240 Meters/ 13,910 Feet).
Today the trek continued on the upper trail, showcasing the breathtaking views of an ancient monastery. The route passed through several Chortens and Mani walls, as well as small villages. All along the way witness and admire the fantastic close-up views of Ama-Dablam. As you progress on the trail the tracks take you traversing beneath the towering north face of Ama Dablam. Following the trail, you will be entering the Imja Valley. The valley gradually opened up as the group approached the confluence of the Lobuche River. The descent into the river is followed by the last and steepest ascent of the day, leading up to Dingboche. From here after a short trek you will finally reach Pheriche.
Day 7: Rest and acclimatization in Pheriche (4240 Meters/ 13,910 Feet)
Today is your second day of acclimatization, the settlement has various vantage points ideal for acclimatization excursions. After breakfast hike to any vantage point and witness views of Lhotse, Makalu, Cho You, Cholatse, Taboche and Lobuche West, Lobuche East. Later on, explore the settlement and relax soaking in the grand views of the landscape.
Day 8: Pheriche (4240 Meters/ 13,910 Feet) to Lobuche (4910 Meters/ 16,108 Feet).
After breakfast start the trek. Traversing across high mountain country head towards the settlement of Lobuche. Along the trail cross villages and witness grand views of the landscape. As you gain in altitude catch the first glimpse of Lobuche Peak. Next, following the trail along glaciers reach the settlement. Upon reaching the settlement relax and rest as from tomorrow you will be heading toward the High Camp.
Day 9: Lobuche (4910 Meters/ 16,108 Feet) to Lobuche High camps (5600 Meters/ 18,371 Feet).
Today, you will be heading toward the Lobuche Base Camp. Start the trek traversing across the valley followed by a steep rocky ascend. As you progress on the trail witness grand views of the Lobuche Glacier, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Pokalde, Thamserku, Kantega, and other various mountain peaks. Following across the moraine you will reach the Lobuche Base Camp. Next, after a brief rest head towards the High Camp. Following the rocky moraine reach the high camp. Upon reaching the camp rest and relax as from tomorrow you will be starting you expedition.
Day 10: Climb Lobuche East summit and return to Lobuche (4910 Meters/ 16,108 Feet).
From this day the climbing period starts. Followed by various basic to advanced training. After summiting the peak head back towards the Base Camp and eventually to the village of Lobuche
Day 11: Lobuche (4910 Meters/ 16,108 Feet) to Pangboche (3910 Meters/ 12,828 Feet).
Wake up early and enjoy the grand views of the Himalayas during the sunrise. After your breakfast start the trek. Today's trail will mostly be on a downward section so take it slowly. As you progress on the trail cross various settlements and vast alpine meadows. Upon reaching Pangboche after a brief rest head out to explore the settlement and have friendly conversations with the locals learning about their way of life and culture.
Day 12: Pangboche (3910 Meters/ 12,828 Feet) Namche Bazaar (3,440 Meters/ 11,286 Feet).
After breakfast start the trek. Today’s trail will take you from the high mountain country to the lush woodlands of the region. Following the downward trail reach Namche Bazaar. After a brief rest head out to explore around the settlement and visit the various pubs and restaurants of the region.
Day 13: Namche Bazaar (3,440 Meters/ 11,286 Feet) to Lukla (2,800 Meters/ 9,186 Feet)
This is your final day’s trekking. Start by following the Dudh Koshi passing various settlements and monasteries down to Lukla. Once you reach Lukla enjoy and celebrate your last night in the mountains.
Day 14: Lukla (2,800 Meters/ 9,186 Feet) to Kathmandu (1,400 Meters/ 4,593 Feet).
Catch an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, and once you arrive at Kathmandu check into your hotel. The rest of the day is yours; you may have a guided tour of the city or go souvenirs shopping for your friends and family.
Day 15: Free day at Kathmandu (1,400 Meters/ 4,593 Feet)
Today you will have a free day, to explore the city on your own or head on a guide unfolding the various secrets of the Kathmandu Valley. In the evening join in for a special farewell dinner to mark the end of your successful expedition.
Day 16: Final departure
Today you’ll have leisure time till your departure flight. The Alpine Club of Himalaya representative will drop you at the airport three hours before your flight departs. If you prefer to stay longer, you can consult us for short tours such as National park visits, rafting, mountain biking, Tibet, India, or Bhutan tours, etc. If you have any inquiries or require assistance and further information about this trip or any other trips, please feel free to contact the Alpine Club of Himalaya – Walk of the Himalaya.
