Timbung Pokhari Trek

Submit Review
The "Timbung Pokhari Trek" gets its name from the Limbu word “Timbak,” which translates to "gunshot." Locals named the pond after this word because it frequently makes a sound reminiscent of gunfire, adding a unique character to the place. In 2018, Timbung Pokhari was chosen as one of 100 new tourist destinations by the federal government, highlighting its significance and beauty. This remote trek is ideal for adventurers looking to explore trails that aren’t frequently visited.  Situated at an impressive altitude of 4,340 meters, Timbung Pokhari stretches over an area that is approximately 466 meters long and 154 meters wide. This trek attracts both those who are spiritually inclined and those who wish to lose themselves in nature’s tranquility. Its breathtaking landscapes and peaceful atmosphere often lead people to describe it as "heaven on earth." Despite being covered in snow for about half the year, Timbung Pokhari has drawn thousands of pilgrims over the centuries. During the month of Shrawan (July–August), as well as during festivals like Janai Purnima and Nag Panchami, the area comes alive with devotees performing religious ceremonies around the pond. The ecosystem surrounding Timbung Pokhari is rich in rare flora and fauna, earning it the nickname "natural city." The area is home to several valuable herbs such as Bikham, Kutki, Panchaule, Padmachal, Jatamasi, and the highly prized Yarsagumba. Fragrant plants like Sunpati, Bhairungpani, and Sikpale also thrive in this environment, making it a paradise for those interested in botany and herbal medicine.
