In the morning we drive to Olpopongi in West Kilimanjaro region. Olpopongi is 74 kilometers from Moshi. Our two hours drive will take us through the beautiful outback of West Kilimanjaro. Depending on the season you can see game like zebras and elephants. On clear days you will have amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. We reach Olpopongi before lunch time, where we will be welcomed by the local Maasai with a traditional welcome song and dance.

We take a walk around the village and you will check-in your hut for the night. The guides will then take you to the precious little museum, where you will learn about the history, social organization and tools of Maasai people.

Start your safari by driving from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, which is about a 2-hour drive. Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, and you may also see buffalo and lions. Overnight in a lodge or campsite in the park.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is home to the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is one of the best places in Tanzania to see the Big Five, as well as other wildlife such as hippos and hyenas. Overnight in a lodge or campsite near the crater.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, drive to the Serengeti National Park, which is about a 4-hour drive. The Serengeti is known for its big cat population, including lions and leopards, as well as elephants and buffalo. Overnight in a lodge or campsite in the park.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

On your last day, you can do a morning game drive in the Serengeti before driving back to Arusha. If you haven't seen all of the Big Five yet, you may have another chance on the drive out of the park.

Depart from Arusha early in the morning and drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. After completing registration and meeting your armed ranger guide, begin your hike through lush montane forests. Enjoy sightings of wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and various bird species. Have a picnic lunch along the way. Continue the ascent to Miriakamba Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Hiking Time: 3-5 hours
Elevation Gain: 2,514 meters (8,250 feet) to 3,570 meters (11,712 feet)

After breakfast, start the hike towards Saddle Hut. The trail takes you through the forest and into the heath zone, offering spectacular views of Mount Meru's crater and the Ash Cone. Arrive at Saddle Hut in time for lunch. In the afternoon, take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820 meters / 12,533 feet) for breathtaking views and better acclimatization. Return to Saddle Hut for dinner and rest, preparing for the summit attempt.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Hiking Time: 10-12 hours (summit and descent)
Elevation Gain: 3,570 meters (11,712 feet) to 4,566 meters (14,980 feet) (summit) and descent to 2,514 meters (8,250 feet)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Begin the summit attempt around midnight, hiking through the night to reach the summit at sunrise. The trail is steep and challenging, passing Rhino Point (3,800 meters / 12,467 feet) and Cobra Point (4,350 meters / 14,272 feet). Reach Socialist Peak, the summit of Mount Meru, at 4,566 meters (14,980 feet) and enjoy stunning sunrise views over Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. After taking in the views and capturing photos, begin the descent back to Saddle Hut for a short rest and breakfast. Continue descending to Miriakamba Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Elevation Loss: 2,514 meters (8,250 feet) to 1,387 meters (4,550 feet)

After breakfast, descend from Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate, enjoying the final leg of your journey through the lush forest and open grasslands of Arusha National Park. Look out for more wildlife as you make your way down. Upon arrival at Momella Gate, complete park formalities and receive your certificate of achievement. Transfer back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon, where your hiking adventure concludes.

Meru hike in 4 days

After breakfast, you'll depart from your Arusha or Moshi accommodations and drive to the park. After your entrance to the park you will embark on a game drive through the park. Your drive will pass you past park landmarks such as the Momella Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater - sometimes known as 'Little Ngorongoro'

Also, your Safari Vehicle will go under the Fig tree (Ficus thonningii) whose roots have grown to take the shape of an arch, large enough for a Safari car (elephant size) to pass underneath you may stop get out of the car and take pictures. During lunch you will stop at a picnic site where you will have your lunch there after proceed with the game drive. At around four you will start leaving the National park for Arusha where you will spend the night!

DAY 1 - Moshi / Arusha – Arusha  ( GAME DRIVE) – Arusha

You'll depart from Arusha after breakfast for the drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The journey takes approximately two hours, but we'll pass through the market town of Mto Wa Mbu along the way. This agricultural and fresh produce market is a melting pot of local cultures and a souvenir hunter's paradise. After a brief stop at the village market, you'll enter Lake Manyara National Park. The park is truly a photographer's playground and offers some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa's most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions

DAY 2 - Arusha - Lake manyara N.Park ( Game Drive )

After breakfast, you'll go into the Ngorongoro Crater; sometimes considered as the 8th Wonder of the World. Home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It's a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grass plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water. From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, you'll be able to observe and photograph some of Africa's most recognisable faces.
